Kapa Haka

"So lets welcome on wainui beach school." We walked on to the stage. I was really nervous. "Whakapiri" called our kia. We all walked together. "Eta ri ke toru wha." called our kia. Our first song was eta ri ke.  as soon as we started singing all the nerves went away. In Eta ri ke our voices were really high and good. Once we had finished everybody started clapping like mad. Neke Atu called our kia. We all spread out again.

"Utina toru wha". In utina the boys move forward and the girls move back because the song after utina is the haka. Soon we had finished utina. It was time for the haka ! "Taringa whakarongo titiro mai ke ow."  Yelled our kia. The first haka we sang was the wainui haka. The. In the wainui haka the floor was making so much noise It sounded like an elephant was walking all over it.  The next haka we sang was the kamate kamate haka. Once the kamatia kamatia haka was done we sang rona e. In rona e the girls move forward again.

It was time for our final song wainui e. when wainui e was finished all the boys walked off the stage. Then the girls sang it 1 more time but while they were singing it they were moving off stage 1 line at a time. Soon we were all of the stage. It had  been such a fun kapa haka day bye.

Farm visit

The doors of Hayley's van shut with a Bang! We set off along the windy country road. Soon we were at Kori's farm. We got out of the van with our bags and walked up the stairs of the barn. When we got into the barn Kori's dad started to talk about the farm. After he had  finished talking about the farm he said that we could go see the lambs. Yes! I said to myself.

We rushed out of the barn.We ran in the direction that we thought the barn was. Then for some reason everyone was yelling at us.We couldn't quite hear what they were saying. We ran a bit closer to them and then discovered that they were shouting, " You're going the wrong way!" We ran down to where they were. Soon we were at the sheep shed. We climbed over the gate where all the lambs were.It was very crowded in there. I waked over to a lamb and picked it up. It was very soft and fluffy.

We ran back to the shed. We walked up the stairs and into the barn. Kories dad asked us how it was we all said great!

Craft fair

3 short bells rang out. The craft fair had started! Before the craft fair I had been testing out the horizontal bungee. The  horizontal bungee had been so much fun. The horizontal bungee isn't actually horizontal. The aim of the not -so -horizontal bungee is to grab the coke which is near the end of the mat without slipping on the soap and water.  But when I was testing it out I had my ticket in my pocket so when I got it out it was soaked. As soon as the three bells had finished ringing I went and got a new ticket. Then I went straight to the not-so-horizontal bungee. I was first in line. I put the harness on. I started running The bungee was stretching, I dived, I just got hold of the coke can. I reached my other hand to it, now I had it in a firm grip. The bungee started pulling me back but I still had the can of coke in my hand. Soon the bungee stop pulling. I had grabbed the coke! I was so thrilled.

Next I went to the bubble wrap one. The bubble wrap one was really fun. You had do bump people in these big soft balls. I ran and bumped Archie and then Archie got up and bumped me. When we hopped out I could tell that Archie was exhausted.

A bit later on I went to get waffles. The waffles were delicious. I had mine with passionfruit sauce. Once I had eaten my waffle I went and bounced on the bouncy castle. The bouncy castle isn't actually that bouncy  but it was still really fun. After the bouncy castle I wandered round for about half an hour. Then I went and found my Mum. "What's the time I asked?" "6.30." she said. "The time has flown by," I said. My mum nodded.

I ran off to the bouncy castle. I probably only had time for about one  more bounce on the bouncy castle. After about twenty minutes my Mum came and called me. "It's time to go," she said. It had been such a fun day at the craft fair with all my friends.

Interschool Athletics

I sprinted towards the long jump block. I landed in first place but disappointment awaited me. It was a no jump. Damm it, I told myself. I asked the lady if we could have another jump but unfortunately she said no. She told us to go back to our school tents so that we were out of the blazing hot sun. Now I had to wait about half an hour before I went to high jump. That half an hour went very slowly but soon it was time.

Soon we were all huddled around steve. In case you're wondering steve is the high jump guy. Soon we were all lined  on the sides that we wanted to jump from. I jump  from seaside. but hillside went first. Archie, my friend, was lined up on hillside  and so was Author. Soon it was my turn to jump.I ran up to the bar and jumped but unfortunately I hit the bar. I was devastated. I lined back up. I jumped again I hit the bar once again I lined back up and jumped again. If I failed this one I was out. But then glory, I made it! I Went on to the red cone. I waited till my turn. Steve had moved the bar up only a little bit but i knew that that was going to make it a lot harder. I ran up to the bar and jumped but I didn't make it. I was so frustrated.

After high jump me an archie went to get juices. The juices were so nice and refreshing. Once we had eaten our juices we went and watched the year 6s do high jump. From Wainui there was wolf and oliver. Wolf came 4th and Oliver got the same result as me witch was weird because oliver had beaten wolf by a long way at our school. It had been such a fun day at Interschool Athletics.

BEE BOT MAZE

Today our class wrote instructions for a bee bot to go round a course. Once we had written our instucactions we had to make a maze out of blocks. This was very hard because each square had to be exactly 15 cm long and wide. If the squares weren't 15 cm long and wide the bee bot would crash into the blocks.

Once I had made my track to perfection I tried to make the bee bot go through the blocks. The first time I tried it and it didn't work. The next time I tried it  and it worked.I was stoked.

Lighthouse Metaphor

Hi my name is Harry and I'm here to explain my lighthouse metaphor, lead the way. I think that lead the way should mean this.  if you were taking charge in your learning you could be leading the way.  If you're wondering how lead the way is involved with a lighthouse metaphor it's like this.

Lighthouses lead the boat or ship into a calm place or a harbor to land with their light that's how lead the way is linked to a lighthouse metaphor.

BEE BOT

It was time to use the bee bot. I went down to the mat with my pictures of the three billy goat gruffs in order. I lined them out on the bee bot grid. Each square in the bee bot grid is 15 cm long and 15 cm wide. The bee bot works like this.

On top of the bee bot there are 4 directions. The directions on top of the bee bot are forward, backwards, right and left. Also on top of the bee bot is a go button. You use the go button when you have clicked all the buttons you need to. Then you just push the go button and the bee bot gos in the direction you want it to.

I bet you think this is easy but honestly its really hard. I tried it but it didn't work. I tried it again but it still didn't work. I tried again but this time it worked.YES!! I said. I was learning to use the buttons in the correct order. I think that everybody should have a bee bot! Dont you?.

Enviro

The bus came to a stop. The doors opened with a swish.Everyone got out.We walked to the big gates. We met the people who run the environment centre. They told us to walk into the building. When we were walking into the building we passed lots of big healthy fresh fruit and vegetables. Soon we were inside the building. The person who runs  the environment centre told us to grab a badge. There were 4 different  colours of badges green, pink, blue, white.I had a green badge We put down are bags and sat down on these funny bean bags. What are these made of someone asked. There made of old milk bottles. She replied. That's why there so uncomfortable i thought. There's going to be three rotations before morning tea she said.

She told the blue and green badges to get into one group and white badges to get into another. Then she told blue badges to get into one to. I walked into  a room. the room was very close to the main road. In this room we were learning about the six rs. The teacher gave us the six rs. You have to place them in order she said from the most important to the least important. The 6rs were reuse, recycle, refuse, repair, replace, rot,.Sorry but i cant remember what the order was.It was soon time to leave that rotation.

The next rotation was about not using much plastic. This rotation was in the main room. We sat down on the uncomfortable bean bags.  In this rotation she told us were all the trucks of plastic went.Just in case you want to know they all went to this big quarry in  the place that L&P comes from.

The next rotation was out in the garden. We walked all around the gardens. We got to try anything we liked the look of. She also taught us about what time of the year to plant and harvest fruit and vegetables. That was are last rotation.I wish i could take you through are next rotation but honestly im so tired.
